Philosophy and Background

Dr LaRiccia’s aim is to improve the practice of medicine. In his medical practice, he provides medical acupuncture and other complementary therapies and consultation as an integrated addition to standard medical practice. His interest in acupuncture and other complementary/alternative medicine therapies is motivated by a desire for a gentler form of medical care characterized by an abscence or a minimum of side effects. He has also been active in professional organizations, having served as President of the Acupuncture Society of Pennsylvania and President of the New York Society of Acupuncture for Physicians and Dentists. He received an award for his contribution to acupuncture from the Acupuncture Society of Pennsylvania besides sharing a research prize in acupuncture from the Medical Acupuncture Research Foundation. He is listed in the 2011-12 editions of Who’s Who in America and 2012 edition of Who’s Who in Healthcare.

Dr. LaRiccia’s background includes: Bachelors Degree from Youngstown State University; Masters Degrees in Psychology and Clinical Epidemiology from Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine; and M.D. from the University of Ghent in Ghent, Belgium. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and a Licensed Acupuncturist. He is a member of the medical staffs of Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. LaRiccia is an Adjunct Scholar at the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
